Outrigger and stabilizer legs concentrate the full weight of a crane onto four small steel feet. On asphalt, compacted gravel or concrete slabs that point load is enough to punch through the surface, tilt the machine and put the lift outside its rated capacity. A UHMWPE stabilizer pad spreads that load across a footprint several times larger, so the ground pressure drops back into a safe range.
Anyang Ultrahigh pads are machined from virgin ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene with a molecular weight of 3.5 to 9 million. The material does not absorb water, does not rot and does not bond to mud or frozen ground, so the pad lifts away cleanly after the job. Under vertical load it deforms slightly and conforms to the surface, which keeps the outrigger from walking on a slope.
Compared with timber cribbing, the pad has no grain to split, no moisture to swell it and no rot after storage in a yard. Compared with steel, it weighs about one eighth as much and will not scar a finished concrete deck.
